Dying to make $200 Million

According to this article in Forbes, the late Elizabeth Taylor made $200+ million in 2012.   http://www.forbes.com/sites/dorothypomerantz/2012/10/24/elizabeth-taylor-is-the-new-queen-of-dead-celebrities/

I took two things away from this article:
  1. You are only losing time, do what makes you happy, period.  Just start doing it.
  2. You can't enjoy money made from your brand or business when you are not here to enjoy that money.  You can't take it with you, money and valuables really don't mean much in the end.

Happiness is a state of mind, go start your business that you have always wanted to start.  You might not know what the heck you are going to do, but you will figure it out.  What do you think new parents do, do they keep reading books and reading books and getting advice, are they scared to death when they bring that first baby home?  Heck yeah they are, but guess what, they figure it out along the way.

Go.

Five Things to do Every Monday to Start out a Great Week!

(Yes I know it's Tuesday but I wrote this after doing all of these things yesterday)

  1. Wake up and be thankful/give thanks or meditate for everything that you have.
  2. Do 50 jumping jacks before showering (gets the heart pumping).
  3. When you go get coffee (Dunkin Donuts of course), pay for the person behind you.  If you work from home, drive somewhere and pay for something for someone. Believe me, paying it forward pays off.
  4. Don't check emails for at least 1 hour (leads into #5)
  5. Make a goal sheet of things you would like to complete that day and then one for the entire week (do this before you check email).
Short and sweet and to the point and is a great start to the week.

Success and Short Term Thinking don’t mix

We will skip the definition of success.  Success could be described in many ways, financial success, business success, relationship success, whatever your definition of success is, let’s use it.  Business success for example, that isn’t short term.  You don’t hear people say, well they were successful for a year but then closed. Or, my marriage was a success, but now we are divorced.

If you want to be successful, start to plan for the long term.  Weight loss, business, relationship, if you focus on now, next year, five years from now, etc, you will be able to mentally build a path and still enjoy the NOW moment all the time. Planning and charting your way is positive and fun, and it should be consistent and constant.

Always think about what you are doing now, where you are going, then chart how to get there.  If it is business, you know today you need to do things in your business, but you also need to do things to grow your business.  Things like read business books,  blogs related to your industry, network with others, and anything else that will grow your business.  Tomorrow you have things you need to get accomplished, but you also need to grow your business, so you work on scripts, documents and other items for the event you have this weekend.  The event this weekend, you need to talk to 25 people, and get 10 booked for the seminar you are hosting next week, and so on and so on.

For your business to be successful, you must always be thinking about growth and what’s next on the agenda.  This doesn’t mean you have to wake up at 5:30 everyday and get going, find a pattern that is good for you, short term patterns don’t work and don’t lead to success.
